Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass reopened around 11:40 a.m. Monday after being shut down for several hours due to heavy snowfall, avalanche danger and vehicle spinouts. Chains will be required all vehicles except those with all-wheel drive. Oversize vehicles will be prohibited.

WSDOT reported 30-inches of snowfall over a 48 hour period.

The snowfall will be a major boost to a ski area that has suffered under a dry winter. The problem Monday was that no skiers could get there due to the closure.

US 2 is open, however chains are required on all vehicles except all wheel drive. Oversized vehicles are not allowed.

KING 5 Meteorologist Rich Marriott says the snow will decrease later in the day, but another system is expected to move in Tuesday that could bring another 6-to-12 inches between Noon Tuesday and early Wednesday morning.
