Flooding closes Lincoln County businesses

LINCOLN COUNTY, Wash. -- Several businesses in the Lincoln County town of Edwall are closed after fast melting snow flooded area.

People in Edwall said this is one of its worst floods.

“I haven’t been here that many years, 15 years, but the other people said this is the most they’ve seen in a long time,” said Craig Madsen.

Madsen is a volunteer firefighter with the Rearden Edwall Fire District. He said it appears a combination of rain and melting snow inundated a creek that runs through the middle of town.

Flood waters entered places that normally stay dry. A tech company that produces flash drives in surrounded by water.

Four inches of water sat on the fire station floor. Across the street, the flood waters got two feet high against post offices and adjacent businesses.

Neighbors said the town has flooded before but this remains far from normal.
