SANDPOINT, Idaho -- School was canceled for some students Thursday morning in the Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry areas because of the bitter cold.

On Thursday morning, the wind chill got down to 11 below zero in Sandpoint, 12 below in Bonners Ferry and 19 below in Priest River.

School administrators canceled classes for Boundary County and Lake Pend Oreille schools. One teacher said in the two years she has been working at Washington Elementary in Sandpoint, this is the first time school has been canceled for the cold weather

Schools could be canceled for the third day in a row if the winds and the temperatures continue to drop.
