OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Police believe a 6-year-old Rhode Island boy who was taken by his mother in violation of a family court order was in Washington state Thursday.  Authorities believed the two were headed to Washington because the mother has family here.

Daniel Britt was last seen with his mother Andria Britt.  An Amber Alert was issued after a family court judge determined that there was an immediate risk of harm to Andria and Daniel Britt. The risk was not specified.

The Rhode Island State Police contacted WSP Thursday with information that the suspect may be in Washington state, and may be in a vehicle with Washington plates.

According to police, Andria Britt and Sean Britt shared joint custody of their son. Sean Britt said the last time he saw Daniel was Jan. 3.

Police say Andria Britt ignored a court date on Jan. 8 and neglected to return the child to the father as part of consent order.

Rhode Island State Police say Britt could be driving one of two vehicles. A red Ford Focus, Rhode Island license number 942649, or a Gray Chevy Astro Van with a Washington license number of ABR1512.

Anyone with information is asked to call Rhode Island State Police at 401-444-1000 or 911.
