COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Police said a truck drove into the side of a house at 5th and Hattie Thursday evening.

Authorities said the truck that hit the house was a 1999 Ford F250.   The truck plowed through the one-level home and took out the front wall, the entire living room, and the back wall, according to police.

The truck was driven by a man who fled the accident on foot, police said. Officers detained a suspect they believe was driving the truck in the area of Government Way and Anton Avenue.

According to investigators, an adult man, an adult woman, and a female juvenile were inside the home and were hit by the truck. All of the victims suffered serious injuries.

Samantha Purcell lives across the street from the home.  She said she came running outside after she heard a loud ‘boom.’

“I went into the house and I saw the daughter, the little girl, and I asked her if she was okay,” Purcell said. “She said she was ok and she looked okay and I said I want you to stay where you're at.”

Purcell called 911 and waited for medics to arrive to help.

The victims were extricated from the home and transported to Kootenai Medical Center.
