COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- A new green hotel opened in Coeur d’Alene Thursday. The owner has made the Marriot Spring Hill Suites environmentally friendly.
The 118 room hotel is green certified by Leadership in Energy and Environment Design standards.
Owner, Kent Clausen, told KREM 2 News that the hotel includes special materials. LEED certified buildings feature different adhesives, water saving fixtures, and low impact landscaping.
Clausen added climate control technology to the hotel. Censors monitor whether guests are in the room. The temperature will drop when a guest is not there.
