SPOKANE, Wash. -- A Spokane developer is working on re-opening the Ridpath Hotel as apartments next year.
The Ridpath dates back to the 1900s and had operated as a hotel for more than a century. Local experts said it will better serve downtown Spokane as an apartment building.
The building is on track to re-open next summer with help from developer Ron Wells. There will be more than 150 new studio apartments that are about the same size as a hotel room. There will also be about 80 one-bedroom apartments reaching up to 1200 square feet and three condos on the top floor.
Students at the Riverpoint Campus will likely benefit from there being another place for them to live.
“We’d love to have them living downtown, that’s the whole idea of a University District, live, learn, work and play downtown,” said Mark Richard with Downtown Spokane Partnership.
There will also be a bar and grill on the first floor.
There is already a waiting list to rent one of the new apartments at the Ridpath.
