SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Teachers Credit Union leaders awarded four $500 classroom grants to randomly selected local teachers.
The money can be spent on anything a teacher believes will enhance students’ classroom experience.
The winners are:
- Randy Degenhart, first and second grade teacher at Liberty Elementary School in Spokane County.
- Shawnna Breach, special education and response to intervention, Lakelane Junior High in Rathdrum, Idaho.
- Katie Barone, kindergarten teacher at Salnave Elementary School in the Cheney School District.
- Phil Plesek, science and bio med teacher at Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley.
STCU sponsored 23 back-to-school events for teachers in Eastern Washington and North Idaho this year. More than 2,000 certified teachers who attended the events entered the drawings for classroom grants.
