MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -- Areas west of Spokane were hit hard by storms Sunday night.
In Medical Lake, neighbors are amazed by some of the destruction they saw right outside their doors. Luckily, there were no major injuries and some of their belongings were saved.
People in the area said some people’s lights went out because of the powerful wind.
“It was crazy last night, the wind was blowing so hard the trees in my backyard were bent over this way,” said neighbor, Brian Olmstead.
One family was temporarily trapped in their house after tree limbs blocked them in. On Monday, the neighborhood got a better picture of the damage done by the storm. Even those in the business of cleaning up what’s left were surprised by the scene.
“I see this a little bit but not like this, this is pretty much devastation,” said tree removal owner, Jason Leach.
According to Avista, as many as 25,000 people were without power. On Monday night, most of those people have power restored.
