CHALMETTE, La. -- A New Orleans man is in St. Bernard Parish Prison after being arrested for stealing cooking oil from a restaurant Saturday.
Deputies booked 57-year-old Frank Nelson with the theft of about 300 gallons of used cooking oil, worth more than $500 at re-sale.
The owners of a Chalmette restaurant discovered oil missing from their storage tank in the back after they saw a big pickup with an oil tank and hoses pulling away.
That led to a wild high speed chase before deputies arrested Nelson.
He was also booked with not having a valid driver's license.
Nelon's being held on a $10,000 bond.
