A baby girl is safe after her nanny pushed her stroller out of the way of a car.
The accident happened Saturday just after 6 p.m. Witnesses said a vehicle westbound on S. McClellan St. stopped at the 3-way stop. The nanny was in the crosswalk, pushing a stroller with a 1-year- old baby. The driver didn’t see the pedestrian and drove through the intersection.
The nanny saw the vehicle approaching and attempted to push the stroller out of the way. She was hit by the vehicle and thrown onto the hood, breaking the windshield before she fell to the ground.
The vehicle brushed the stroller, knocking it over. The child was strapped in the stroller tight enough that she did not fall out of the stroller or get hit by the vehicle.
The nanny was taken to the hospital to be treated for a possible broken or dislocated shoulder.
The baby's parents picked her up at the scene of the accident.
