ARLINGTON, Wash. -- Court records show that a 50-year-old Arlington, Wash., man was arrested for investigation of second-degree murder in the death of his sister just a few hours after their elderly mother was found dead at the foot of a staircase in the family home.
The Daily Herald of Everett reports that the 80-year-old woman's death was initially not thought to be suspicious but is now being reviewed by the Snohomish County medical examiner. The older woman was found dead early Saturday.
The Snohomish County sheriff's office says deputies were called to the home Sunday by the 53-year-old sister's son. He said his mother had disappeared and he was suspicious because her vehicle was at his uncle's property.
The woman's body was found in a field, covered with a blanket.
On Monday, the man was ordered held on $1 million bail.
