SPOKANE, Wash. -- A deputy with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office has been arrested for 2nd Degree Domestic Violence and 2nd Degree Assault according to Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich. He identified the deputy as Detective Dale Toliver.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said Toliver is suspected of committing an assault near Odessa, Washington early Sunday morning.
The Lincoln County Sheriff said Toliver and his girlfriend were a guest in a home in Odessa when the owner called 911. Officials said Toliver was assaulting his girlfriend and the homeowner stepped in and was also assaulted.
Authorities said the homeowner fought Toliver off and did significant damage to his right eye. Toliver was transported to an area hospital.The woman and homeowner were also injured but they did not go to the hospital.
Sheriff Knezovich said Toliver made arrangements to surrender to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Toliver was later in court to be arraigned. He pleaded not guilty.Toliver was booked and later released.
The Sheriff told KREM 2 News that this is a serious matter and they are investigating it to the fullest.
Toliver was placed on paid administrative leave. The Spokane County Sheriff will be conducting an internal investigation to determine if Toliver's actions violated policies of the Sheriff's Officer.
