COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The community of Coeur d’Alene came together for a cause over the weekend, donating more than 17,000 diapers for children in need
It was the first project for the newly-established volunteer group “Heart 2 Serve Coeur d’Alene.” Kelly Stetzelberger recently started the group with the idea of rallying local volunteers to help out organizations in need. She put out the call for diapers and couldn’t believe the response as she started to add up the total donations
“I was watching my calculator going up and up and up and past that 10,000, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ And we even had a little drum roll because it was just huge,” Stetzelberger said. “Way more than we expected by far.
Volunteers dropped off the truckload of diapers and more than 2,000 wipes to The Children’s Village in Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.
Stetzelberger said she hopes this is the beginning of a long relationship between Heart 2 Serve Coeur d’Alene and The Children’s Village. Heart 2 Serve Coeur d’Alene’s next project will be a food drive to benefit the same cause, Stetzelberger said.
