Washington state's senior member of the U.S. Senate on Wednesday addressed the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Murray told delegates that when she was growing up, her family needed food stamps and federal student loans allowed her and her siblings to go to college.

Jim Sinegal, co-founder of Seattle-based Costco, speaks at the convention Wednesday evening, ahead of former president Bill Clinton.

President Obama is scheduled to speak Thursday night.
