11 Washington counties under very high or extreme fire danger levels

SPOKANE, Wash.—Several counties in Washington have increased fire danger levels since the beginning of the week.

Spokane County, Asotin County, Franklin County, Benton County Klickitat County, Yakima County, Chelan County, Okanogan County, Lincoln County, Ferry County, and Stevens County are all already in or coming into very high and extreme fire danger levels, according to Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

Very high and extreme fire danger means fires start from all causes easily and spread rapidly.  These fires are highly intense and are hard to fight because they grow so quickly.

Many counties around the region have burning restrictions in place to help prevent wildfires from starting. Washington state DNR has a complete map with information for each county on their website.
