SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police activity shut down an area off Division Street in North Spokane Wednesday after a pursuit.

Spokane Police Department leaders said officers responded to Division and Magnesium after a car chase ended in a collision.

Police said an officer witnessed a hit and run collision. They added the suspect fled the scene in his car and then on foot and was caught shortly after.

Police said the officer noticed the suspect appeared to be having a medical emergency. They said he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Division Street was open but Magnesium was shut down in the area.

The Spokane Investigative Regional Response (S.I.R.R.) Team was activated due to the critical condition of the suspect.  The Spokane County Sheriff's Office is the managing agency in this incident.  This investigation is on-going.
