SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University’s popular men’s basketball team finished the 2017-2018 season ranked No. 10 on the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Zags, who made it to the Sweet 16 in this year's NCAA Tournament after a run for the championship last season, were at one point ranked sixth in the nation on the same poll.

The fourth-seeded Zags were upset by nine-seed Florida State 75-60 in the Sweet 16.

Unsurprisingly, national champions Villanova were the No. 1 team in the final USA Today poll.

Runner-up Michigan finished second, though the Wolverines were not voted No. 2 on all 32 of the coaches’ ballots.

Kansas, the only other No. 1 seed to reach the Final Four before falling to Villanova’s three-point barrage, checks in at No. 3.

There were considerable differences of opinion among the voters as to how to treat the rest of the top 10. Duke, a regional finalist, will finish fourth after opening the campaign at No. 1 way back in October. At No. 5 is Virginia, the team that made history in unwanted fashion by becoming the first top seed to lose to a No. 16 in the round of 64.
