ESPN's Neil Everett talks Zags, Spokane with Darnay

"My pride for Spokane is immense. So, you were sweating it out like everyone else last week. I was a wreck. I'm standing up walking around saying, 'make your free throws!' Yeah it was a probably all tournament long,"

SPOAKNE, Wash.— The KREM 2 Sports Team invade the Sports Center studios Tuesday evening to geek out over getting to meet up with a local Lewis and Clark grad who reps the Spokane to a national audience every week.

Darnay Tripp grabbed five minutes with Neil Everett in ESPN’s Los Angeles Sports Center studios.

Everett and Tripp chatted about the Zags and Everett’s Spokane roots.

"Listen I'm a huge Few fan. Coach Monson, the first college basketball game I ever saw was Coach Fitzgerald and Gonzaga way back when. I was in high school the same year as Stockton. I'd say I shut him down but that would mean I was guarding him from the bench while he was crushing us. My pride for Spokane is immense. So, you were sweating it out like everyone else last week. I was a wreck. I'm standing up walking around saying, ‘make your free throws!’ Yeah it was a probably all tournament long,” said Everett.

Everett grew up in the Lilac City during the 1970s and 1980s and was in the Inland Northwest before the Bulldogs ever sniffed the NCAA Tournament.

He told the sports guys he even took Thursday and Friday off to enjoy having Gonzaga in town.
