Skiers rejoice! Schweitzer Mountain is extending its season

The long-range forecasts call for slightly colder temperatures and above average precipitation.

SANDPOINT, Idaho – If you are one of the many people mourning the end of the winter sports season, you are in luck.

Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint is extending its season until Sunday, April 15 after an impressive winter with over 365 inches of snowfall.

“Longer, sunnier days are making an appearance in the region and with a solid snowpack still in the mountains, conditions for spring skiing and riding are fantastic,” said Schweitzer’s marketing manager Dig Chrismer.

The long-range forecasts call for slightly colder temperatures and above average precipitation, according to Schweitzer. The mountain currently has more than 125 inches of snow at the summit and could see additional snowfall throughout March.

“With those factors in place, it just makes sense to ski and ride as long as we can,” Chrismer added.

Schweitzers offers late season rates on slope side lodging accommodations and Spring Fling passes that give the purchaser unlimited access to the mountain until closing day for $139 plus tax.
