BOISE, Idaho -- The State of Idaho is beefing up its law regarding school threats. It is now illegal to make threats online and on social media. Governor Butch otter signed a bill updating Idaho law. Previously, an individual making a threat could only be arrested if the threat was made on school grounds. The bill updates language to now include threats regardless of where they came from.

The Coeur d’Alene School District said it supports the law. Bill supporters say it gives authorities the power to stop school violence before it happens. The bill contains an emergency clause and goes into effect immediately.
