SPOKANE, Wash.— It can be found in a lot of places this time of year: on the radio, in stores, and even maybe at work.

The familiar tune of Christmas music can bring back holiday memories filled with family, cheer and the beauty of Christmas.

Psychiatric nurse practitioner, Kiira Tiejen said that was not the case for everybody.

Tiejen said people’s perspective of the season can be brought up when they heard Christmas music.

"If you love Christmas, if you are excited about Christmas, then it probably makes you happy. If you have a lot to do, if you're stressed, if you are running around getting presents or have to host a party, then that music might be a reminder of everything that you have to do," said Tiejen.

Local mental health councilor Todd Swanson said music can be associated with memories.
