COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – A burger place in a gas station in Coeur d’Alene serves the best hamburgers in the entire state of Idaho.
The Surf Shack, located inside the A & D Mini Mart off North 4th Street, serves California-style eats.
The recent article, posted by Only in Your State, has dramatically increased their patrons.
“I don’t honestly know what I did, I fed the right person and made him happy, but it was news to me too!’ said Jake Latuseck, the owner of the Surf Shack. “It’s good news obviously, I don’t know how it happened, but it did.”
Latuseck said he has owned the restaurant – which used to be Longboard Burger – for three years. They have about 15-20 seats inside the station, but he hopes someday they'll have a larger place.
He compared their style to popular burger chain In-and-Out.
“I’m a big In-and-Out fan, I’m a fan of eating the right way. I think that’s the best way to do it,” he said.
The Surf Shack will soon have a second location in Post Falls. Though the new location is not in a gas station, it is still pretty small.
“It’s just like a food trailer feel,” Latuseck said. “It just looks exactly like a surf shack.” Their new location will open sometime this spring at 2868 E. Seltice Way in Post Falls.
The Coeur d'Alene location just switched to their summer hours, Mon-Tues 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Wed-Sat. 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. They are closed Sunday. You can read their Yelp reviews here.
