I LOVE glitter! (How much do I love it, you ask? Watch the video below and you'll find out.) But glitter is expensive to use for large projects, so I found an affordable alternative you may never have thought about . . . Epsom salts. Crazy, huh?
Epsom salts are cheap. You can buy a pretty big box at Walmart for about .88 cents. The box shown below from the Dollar Tree is smaller. I had no idea that Epsom salts were a craft item until I stumbled upon this website: EpsomSaltCouncil.org.
I also learned from the Epsom Salt Council (there's a council?) that soaking in a bath of Epsom salts relieves flu symptoms. Timely info!
Valentine's Day candles:
I purchased pillar candles from the craft store with my 40% off coupon, then taped off the area that I did not want to have painted.
Next, I painted the bottom portion with acrylic paint. On the other candle, I used spray paint and liked that better.
After the paint dried (overnight), I spread some craft glue all over the painted area. You could use spray adhesive as well. Then, I just sprinkled the candle with Epsom salts on top of the glue, and . . . voila!
