Here's the thing, I'm a very frugal person. No, I'm not cheap, I'm just frugal. There are some things in life that I don't mind spending money on then there are other things that I just know can be done inexpensively and I do those myself...well, ok, I actually enlist my mom to help me but you get the point.

Last year, we took several Summer vacations. Between family trips, weekend getaways and work, we were gone quite a bit. This year, it ain't gonna happen. This is the Summer of the Roe House. Yeah, I'm gonna title it. We have lived here for four years and it's time to spruce up the place. I thought I would show off some of it as we go along so you get the gist of what I'm doing on the cheap then you might find a few ideas for yourself too.

For the first part, I'm just going to let you in on the biggest tip ever...

Are you ready for it?

Do you have a pen and paper?

Call your mama 'cuz it's a big one...

Get furniture from other people.

Yep, that's it. Intense.

Very few pieces of furniture in my house are actually new...in fact, I can't think of any off hand. Most of them are hand me downs that I have repainted or restored. Not only will that add character to your home but it is also easy on the budget. My best resource? My mom and dad. Why? Because they don't charge me to take their stuff. Seriously.

Check out this cabinet below. My dad had it in his garage sale for $300 and now it is in my kitchen. Love ya dad!

Most of our furniture we have picked up at garage sales, estate sales or other family members who are going to toss it out. For the cabinet, I picked it up at my parents and bought some funky fabric to make curtains on the bottom. Now, it hides canned goods and functions as a small pantry.

Thanks to Pinterest, I have quite a few ideas for our house. I'll be documenting them along the way. Check out my Pinterest boards though and follow along. What are your frugal decorating tips?
