Last year we were able to make a trip to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas and we were so blessed to be able to do that again. Grapevine is only 5 hours from Tulsa so it's not a hard drive at all plus, Great Wolf Lodge is flat out amazing.

Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor water park with 80,000 square feet of water fun including, wave pools, kiddie pools with slides and huge water slides....oh, and I can't leave out the 1,000 gallon bucket of water that falls from a 4 story tree house onto the water park goers below.

What still amazes me about the water park are the amount of lifeguards on duty. They are everywhere walking around the pools, in the pools, by the slides. I mean, seriously, lifeguards are all over the place. That makes me feel so much better even though I'm right there with my kids, it's good to know someone else is too.

The water park is not the only thing that will keep you busy. Great Wolf Lodge has a spa for mommies and a spa for little girls too! Plus, you'll find an awesome arcade, restaurants, gift shops, kids club and even a teen hangout. Once you're there, you never have to leave. My boys love it and if you want a vacation that won't cost thousands of dollars then this is it. We went for Fall break which was a perfect getaway.

I have learned to visit Great Wolf Lodge during the school year when it's a bit slower. There were quite a few people there because of Fall break, in fact, the person at the check-in desk said she would estimate 84% of the guests were from Oklahoma at the time we were there. The lowest room rates are Sunday-Thursday nights and like I said above, during the school year it's less expensive.

Since we went in October, Great Wolf was decorated to the max for Halloween. Every single night there is a Halloween story time and trick or treating! My kiddos dressed up in their costumes and traveled around the lodge gathering treats. That made for a seriously fun night!

If you would like to take a trip to Great Wolf Lodge, you can book your room on GreatWolf.com. They do have locations all over the United States. Want to save some money? Sign up for Great Wolf e-mail and they will alert you to great discounts!

The biggest recommendation I have is to take bottled water with you. You will go through a lot of it and at $3 a bottle, it would be much cheaper to pick up a case at the store. Once you're there, order pizza from the Wolf, you'll see a picture of it or advertisement on the mirrors in your room. It's inexpensive and you get a lot more for your money than if you ordered through the other restaurants.

Trust me, your kids will love it! And, they will take great naps too! =) A trip to Great Wolf Lodge is fun literally for the entire family and it's affordable too. Check it out! You won't be disappointed!!

Disclosure: Great Wolf Lodge did provide the first night free for my family and the second night at half price. However, all opinions are my own.
