CHEWELAH-- A Chewelah student who is also a major Honor Flight fundraiser is a top contender in a national contest.

Justin Peterson, 12, was one of people from across the country recognized with the Safeco Insurance Community Hero Award.  The award got him $5,000 for Honor Flight.

In late October he competed with the others for an even bigger prize.

Peterson is on a mission to bring money to the men and women who've sacrificed so much.

Whichever submission gets the most clicks in the Safeco Community Hero Contest wins $10,000 for their charity. That could send 10 vets to D.C.

Justin has raised nearly $35,000 for the Inland Northwest Honor Flight.

Voting is open until Monday, October 29. Click here to vote.

You can vote on your phone, your iPad, and on your computer.
