The Spokane Regional Health District was notified Tuesday of the death of a Spokane County man linked to the H1N1 virus.  The man, who was in his 70's, died at a local hospital and had underlying conditions.  The death occurred Monday.

Currently, there have been eight influenza deaths of Spokane County residents.  Seven of those are PCR confirmed H1N1 and one is a suspect case where the initial lab was negative and the patient died on admission.

The Heath District continues to urge vaccination as the best way to prevent H1N1 infection.  Many area healthcare providers are now offering the vaccinations and the Health District also has several upcoming public clinics.  For more information, the public can call 324-1495, or visit www.srhd.org.
