SPOKANE -- If you click on the Google map feature Street View, you're likely to marvel at the level of detail it brings to you through actual pictures. A favorite is punching in your own address and guessing when the high-tech equipment must have rolled through your neighborhood.
Now one of the Inland Northwest's best features could be on display. The 37-mile Spokane Centennial Trail has been selected as a finalist for the Google Street View Special Collection. If selected, Google would deploy its Street View trike to record the entire length of the trial.
The group, Friends of the Centennial Trail says benefits from being on the Google map include national exposure for the Trail, as well as route clarification for users wanting to head out and see it in person.
The Centennial Trail is up against four other trails and paths across the country and Google is taking votes to help determine a winner. Here's the link if you'd like to give your two cents:
