COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) -- A former lawyer for the Aryan Nations is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Coeur d'Alene next week on new federal charges in an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Edgar Steele pleaded not guilty last month to allegations he tried to kill his wife, Cynthia Steele, and her mother.
The FBI alleges that Edgar Steele plotted with Sagle resident Larry Fairfax to attach pipe bombs to their vehicles.
Fairfax secretly recorded Steele talking about the plot for the FBI and prosecutors allege Steele tried to convince his wife to lie to authorities about the identity of a voice on the tapes.
Fairfax was arrested after auto shop workers found a pipe bomb under Cynthia Steele's car. Fairfax's attorney says it was rigged so it wouldn't explode.
The new charges against Steele include two explosives counts and tampering with a victim.
