SPOKANE VALLEY -- Local family members announced funeral plans Wednesday for the only civilian killed in the Fort Hood shooting massacre last week.
Retired U.S. Army Reservist Mike Cahill, 62, will be laid to rest in Cameron, Texas on Sunday, November 15. According to Cahill's sister, Marilyn Cahill, who lives in Spokane Valley, the service will be at St. Monica's, where Mike and his wife Joleen attended church.
Cahill graduated from Rogers High School, and Eastern Washington University. He moved to Texas in 1991 to further his career in the U.S. Army.
Cahill was working as a physician's assistant at the Ft. Hood processing center last Thursday when he was shot and killed, along with 12 other people.
Marilyn tells KREM 2 News her brother will most likely be cremated, and buried in a military cemetery in Billings, MT., this coming spring.
