SPOKANE -- Experts say Spokane's housing market is in its worst shape in ten years. In fact, the odds of selling your house right now are less than one in ten.
The first time home buyers tax credit breathed life into the housing market in November. But when it extended to April, everything went flat.
Realtors say the housing market is in a holding pattern. The housing market usually slows in the winter. But more than 2,800 homes were listed in Spokane last month. That's the highest level in five years, and less than 200 homes were sold.
According to realtor Dave Sposito from Tomlinson Real Estate, more needs to happen to turn the market around.
"There's so many other factors, the general economics of the country and the number of homes and inventory of homes is so tough," said Sposito.
Sposito says he was hoping a milder winter would help get people out looking for homes in a typically slow season. But he says it looks like the market will not pick-up until the next credit deadline in April.
