SPOKANE -- The family of a murdered Lakewood Police officer will travel from the Inland Northwest Tuesday to Western Washington.

Tiffiny Ryan, sister of Officer Tina Griswold, will travel with her parents, who live in Coeur d'Alene, to Lakewood, Washington. Tina was shot and killed Sunday morning while sittting in a coffee shop with three fellow Lakewood officers. The funeral for Griswold, 40, Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39, and Officers Ronald Owens, 37, and Greg Richards, 42, will be Tuesday in the Tacoma Dome.

A Seattle Police officer shot and killed the suspected gunman, Maurice Clemmons around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday morning while investigating a stolen vehicle.

Ryan issued this statement on the death of Clemmons:

“When I received a phone call this morning at 5:44am from Chief Kirkpatrick, I felt relieved.  I was relieved to hear that the officer that shot Maurice Clemmons was ok.  I was relieved that no other police officers or citizens had been hurt.  I was full of gratitude towards that Seattle Police Officer for doing his job and keeping us safe.  We didn’t realize it before, but we needed Clemmons to be caught for us to move on.  Now my family can begin to mourn the death of my sister.”

Tina and Tiffiny's other sister, Tammy Gipe, lives in Kalispell, Montana.
