SPOKANE VALLEY, WA -- City crews are on the roadways applying de-icer and plowing snow off of roadways in Spokane Valley. Right now they're working on primary and secondary arterials and residential hillsides. Snow Plowing Priorities and Levels of Service: Priority 1 - Primary Arterials Priority 2 - Secondary Arterials Priority 3 - Hillside Residential Priority 4 - Valley Floor Residential (Privately-owned streets are not plowed.) Plowing Priorities 1, 2 & 3 - Limited operations for snow events ranging from one to three inches. Plowing performed as conditions warrant with focus on problem areas and hillsides. Coordination with Spokane Valley Police Department on accident and problem areas. Full plowing activities for snow events exceeding a depth of four inches. Priority 4 - Residential streets on the Valley floor will be considered for plowing when functional traffic flow is substantially inhibited. De-Icing Priorities 1, 2 & 3 - Limited liquid de-icing activities begin prior to snow events on bridges and primary intersections. Solid granular de-icer is the primary de-icing method for streets and intersections, and begins as soon as there is snow accumulation on the roadway. Limited sanding and liquid de-icing occurs during snow events - usually limited to intersections, hills and corners. Priority 4 - De-icing and sanding will be conducted on residential streets on the Valley floor only at controlled intersections and at selected problem areas.
