SPOKANE -- Police on the lookout for car prowlers say they caught one in the act.  24-year-old Michael Bridges his facing charges for taking off on a high speed chase that ended in someones front yard.

Investigators say Bridges was looking into cars and homes near Nevada and Rowan Tuesday night when he got spooked.  He sped off in a black Chevrolet Caprice.  Officers attempted to pursue him, but canceled the chase when it became too dangerous.

Shortly after, Bridges drove into oncoming traffic and crashed the Caprice into another car near Cincinnati and Rowan, and also hitting two parked cars.  A surveillance camera at the home where the car crashed into caught the accident.  The suspect is then seen running down the alley a split second before the homeowner, Todd Hinkle, makes it out the door.  His first concern, a screaming baby in the backseat of the demolished car.  The baby's mother was hurt behind the wheel.  Both were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police later caught Bridges on foot.  They later found he was the passenger in a stolen car that was stopped last week.  Police say they are getting frustrated of repeat offenders.

"How many times do we have to book somebody into jail...same pattern of behavior," said Spokane Police Officer Jennifer DeRuwe.
