SPOKANE -- A Spokane Valley bar owner is facing serious charges in a deadly Monday evening crash.  Police say the bar owner was drunk when he slammed into a bicyclist in downtown Spokane at the intersection of Division and Sprague.  He then took off but later returned to the scene.

Scott Reckord, 49, is in jail accused of killing David Squires, 56, who later died from his injuries.  Reckord was arrested for vehicular homicide and felony hit and run.  KREM 2 News confirms that Reckford currently is the owner of the Sullivan Scoreboard in Spokane Valley.  Reckord spent Tuesday afternoon in court.

According to court witnesses and court documents, Squires was crossing Sprague traveling southbound on Division.  The light was green as Reckord made a left turn onto Sprague.  The two collided in the crosswalk.

Witnesses say Reckord slowed down then took off westbound on Sprague.  A driver followed him honking and hitting her bright lights to get his attention.  Police say this went for about 20 blocks.  Reckord eventually returned to the scene.  According to court documents, Reckord told police he had been driving his truck, heard a thump, and had driven around the block before parking his truck.  He said he had two beers hours earlier.

Police conducted a field sobriety test.  They say the results clearly showed Reckord was impaired.  They told Reckord that Squires had died on the way to the hospital.
