SPOKANE -- Spokane Police say an infant hospitalized by horrific abuse at the hands of her father is now expected to survive.
Officers confirmed Monday morning that two-month-old Skyelynn Jamison's condition is improving at Sacred Heart Medical Center. Police say Major Crimes detectives spoke with her doctors, who believe she will live.
When officers first learned of Skyelynn's case last week, she was not expected to survive.
Skyelynn's father, Tyler Jamison, 18, has confessed to police that he frequently choked and smothered his daughter when she cried, to the point that her lips turned blue and her breathing became irregular. He is currently in the Spokane County Jail.
Court documents show Skyelynn is on a ventilator and brain dead.
Skyelynn's mother, Kelsey Goble, told police she never knew the abuse her daughter allegedly endured.
