No-needle vasectomy now available
01:02 PM PDT on Tuesday, August 5, 2008
SEATTLE – A new, almost painless way to get a vasectomy is now available locally.
Matt Brown decided he would get a vasectomy after he and wife Cindy had their second child. Vasectomies are quicker and easier than tubal ligation for women.
But there's one big catch – the needle.

"Once the needle is inserted and the pain medication delivered, the vasectomy is fairly pain free," says urologist Dr. Aaron Spitz.
"The needle does not sound well at all," said Matt.
But now, there's the no needle vasectomy. It delivers the anesthetic through a high-powered air injector.
"It's basically an air pump," says Spitz.
This new device can deliver the drugs for a vasectomy without the pain of a needle.

The air injector administers the medicine as a fine spray at a very high pressure right through the skin, deep into the tissues.
"You feel nothing and everything is numb," said Matt.
Six days later, Matt is up and around with the kids.
