LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Clint Eastwood had no idea he was going to talk to an empty chair until minutes before he went on stage at the Republican National Convention. Eastwood tells the Carmel Pine Cone that he got the idea when someone kept asking him if he wanted to sit down. He says the Romney campaign tried to find out what he was going to say, but he told them he didn't know. As for why he ran long, Eastwood says no one gave him any signal to wrap it up. Eastwood says he doesn't regret anything he said. He still says "President Obama is "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people."
