BAKERSFIELD, California (AP) -- Imagine Justin Bieber with a couple of missing teeth and bruises all over his face. A minor league hockey team is thinking that Bieber might be just what it needs -- if not on the ice, at least at the box office. The Bakersfield Condors of California have offered The Beeb a tryout for the upcoming season. The team's coach says he's seen Bieber on skates working out with the Toronto Maple Leafs -- and thinks he can play. The team says it has even set aside Bieber's favorite number -- 6 -- in case he decides to take the team up on the offer. Justin Bieber nearly was Jesse Bieber. Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, tells NBC she called him Jesse all through her pregnancy. She says when he was born, he didn't look like a Jesse, so she decided on Justin. Bieber also reveals he got kicked out of class every year, including the first day of first grade. That time it was because he was making armpit noises in class. The interview runs on tomorrow's "Today" show and "Rock Center With Brian Williams."
