MADONNA SUED FOR PROMOTING GAY RIGHTS IN RUSSIA

MOSCOW (AP) -- Russian activists are suing Madonna for supporting gay rights during her concert earlier this month in St. Petersburg. Nine activists are asking for $10.5 million from Madonna, the concert promoters and the venue. They point to a Russian law passed in February making it illegal to promote homosexuality to minors and say children as young as 12 were at her August 9 show. The complaint includes a video of Madonna asking fans to show the pink armbands distributed at the concert to support gays and lesbians. Madonna's spokeswoman could not be reached for comment.
