NEW YORK (AP) -- Motown music was the soundtrack to many people's lives back in the day. But can it be relied on to be the soundtrack for a Broadway hit? There's a musical being produced based on Motown founder Berry Gordy. It's due to hit the boards next year. Producers say "Motown" will open in the spring -- and will feature songs by Motown legends like Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five. The producer says the play is "an amazing opportunity" for people to experience Motown through the eyes of Gordy, the man who lived it. No word yet on who will star in the production -- or when it will open. ------ Online: Motown Musical site: http://www.MotownTheMusical.com
