SEATTLE - Pharrell is bringing "Happy" to the Seattle Seahawks season opener.
The platinum-selling musician will perform outside of CenturyLink Field on Sept. 4 before the Seahawks play the Green Bay Packers as the NFL kicks off its 95th season.
Seattle-based rockers Soundgarden will kick off the free event with a performance. Part of it will air on the NFL Network.
Pop singer Ariana Grande will sing the national anthem. It will air on the NFL Network.
The choice of Pharrell is not a huge surprise. His hit "Happy" has become one of the songs of the year, and he will be one of the new judges on the upcoming season of NBC's "The Voice."
