NEW YORK - Bill Gates tops this year's Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans with a net worth calculated at $59 billion.
Forbes says the Microsoft co-founder saw his wealth increase by $5 billion from last year.
Investor Warren Buffett ranks second with a fortune of $39 billion, though Forbes says the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. chief executive's wealth shrank by $6 billion from a year ago.
Oracle CEO Larry Ellison rounds out the top three with a net worth of $33 billion, a $6 billion increase from last year.
Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com is at No. 13 with a net worth of $19.1 billion, edging out Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who comes in at No. 14 with $17.5 billion.
Steve Ballmer of Microsoft is No. 19 with $13.9 billion. Paul Allen is No. 23 with $13.2 billion, and Phil Knight of Nike is No. 24 with $13.1 billion.
Lady Gaga has knocked out Oprah in the Celebrity 100 List. Forbes says Gaga is No. 1 not just because of the $90 million she earned with her recent tour, but also because of her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers, who helped move 1 million digital downloads of her recent single "Born This Way" in only five days.
