PORT ORCHARD, Wash. - A judge says ailing radio personality Casey Kasem can return to the Washington state home where he's been staying with his wife if doctors approve.
Authorities say the 82-year-old Kasem was taken by ambulance Sunday to a medical facility after an argument between his wife and one of his daughters.
Jean Casem was screaming as paramedics removed her husband from a Kitsap County home on Sunday and threw raw meat at her stepdaughter.
"I believe it' self explanatory," said Kasem following the court hearing, "But if you need to know why I did it, because when a peron is about to pass away, there are always rabid dogs."
Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Jennifer Forbes said Monday that Kasem could return to the home where he and his wife, Jean, have been staying with friends if there's medical supervision and doctors say it is safe to transport him.
Jean Kasem and her stepdaughter, Kerri Kasem, have been contesting who should make decisions about the entertainer's care. Kerri Kasem has said in legal filings that her father suffers from a form of dementia.
Last week Jean Kasem played a cell phone recording of what she said was Casey Kasem moaning and crying after learing his daughter was going to be able to take him to the doctor.
Judge Forbes said she was disturbed when she heard Jeam Kasem played the recording for reporters.
"It was important for people to know how much pain this family is in," said Jean Kasem.
