Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia could all be back – played by the original actors – in the new “Star Wars” film, if you buy what George Lucas told Bloomberg Businessweek.
Despite what Lucas had said in years past about not wanting to extend the saga, he recently told Bloomberg that a new trilogy was in the planning long before he sold the rights to Disney last year.
“We had already signed Mark (Hamill) and Carrie (Fisher) and Harrison (Ford) —or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation,” said Lucas. But he then backed off a little, admitting that “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that.”
Fisher told Florida's Palm Beach Illustrated “yes” this week when asked if she would be reprising Leia. But a representative for Fisher said she was “joking,” adding that nothing has been announced yet.
Hamill has reportedly said that negotiations are under way between Disney and the original cast.
