SPOKANE -- The Inland Northwest Honor Flight took another group of World War II veterans to see the memorial built in their honor in Washington, D.C.
The 35 veterans boarded the plane Friday morning at the Spokane International Airport. They will spend the weekend in Washington, D.C. While they are there, the group plans to visit several memorials including the WW II Memorial.
Inland Northwest Honor Flight made a special presentation at the airport to the family of Private Herman Sturmer. His remains were recently returned to Spokane. They presented a plaque to his sister.
This is the tenth such flight in the last couple of years. So far 306 veterans have gone to Washington, D.C. with Inland Northwest Honor Flight since November 2009.
The veterans are scheduled to return to Spokane at 4:20 Sunday afternoon.
