NEAR CLAYTON, Wash. -- A 17-year-old is dead after being thrown from a car in a rollover crash.

It happened just after 10:00 p.m., Friday north of Clayton, on Highway 395.  Washington State Patrol said the car left the road and rolled.  They say the driver, 17-year-old Johnathen Carwile of Spokane was thrown from the car.  His 16-year-old passenger, Kaili Donica suffered a broken arm and was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Highway 395 was blocked in both directions at the crash scene for hours as troopers investigated.

Troopers say Carwile was driving too fast when he came upon the curve in the road and rolled. They also believe alcohol or drugs played a factor.
