COEUR D'ALENE -- High winds left a path of destruction in one Coeur d'Alene neighborhood overnight. The storm up-rooted several trees that smashed into cars.
The winds picked up around 7:30 Saturday night in a tree filled neighborhood near Dalton and Ramsey. Winds gusted upwards of 50 M.P.H. that left a path of destruction.
Sunday morning, Rachelle Davis and her neighbors banded together to clean up the mess. Several trees crashed onto her house. The chimney is busted, branches pierced the ceiling, and the roof is tattered.
Rachelle's house is not the only property damaged by the uprooted trees. Three cars were smashed and at least one more house was hit. Now neighbors are watching the aftermath. Some are grateful their house wasn't affected.
Neighbors say nobody was hurt. They say emergency crews were on scene but didn't touch a tree that was down across the road because of insurance reasons.
Neighbors say insurance will cover the damaged houses. But they are not sure if insurance will cover the cars.
