This week, several Inland Northwest schools are launching Rachel’s Challenge, a pro-kindness program known to reduce bullying and increase attendance.
On Tuesday, Riverside Middle School and high school students heard the story of Rachel Scott. Rachel was the first person killed in the shooting at Columbine High School.
Rachel was known for showing kindness to everyone, particularly people who felt like they didn’t fit in at school.
After she was killed, her diaries revealed her vision that if one person could go out of their way to show kindness, it would start a chain reaction of kindness.
Her challenges include looking for the best in others, treating others the way you want to be treated and speaking words of kindness.
